Coach Bobby Petrino suspended starting linebacker Wendel Davis, starting safety Matt Harris, and wide receiver Marques Wade for violation of team rules. The players were sent home from Memphis on Thursday.
Two East Carolina players were also suspended for today’s game for violation of team policy. According to the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Leonard Paulk and Jonathon Williams scuffled during the AutoZone Liberty Bowl awards luncheon and nearly flipped over a table while fighting over a dessert. One player had the other in a headlock and was hitting him.
