Newton also accounted for 357 total offensive yards and five touchdowns, both highs in the SEC in Week One. His 171 rushing yards were a school single-game rushing record by a  quarterback, breaking the previous mark of 160 held by Phil Gargis in  1974. The rushing total were the most in a debut by an Auburn player since Rudi Johnson’s 174 rushing yards against Wyoming in 2000.</em></p>

His 11 tackle total was tied for the second-highest in the SEC in Week One.The Wildcat defense limited Louisville to 102 yards of total offense in the first half, while taking a 20-6 halftime lead.It was the third double-figure tackling performance of his career. His 3.5 tackles for loss are a career high.</em></p>

He was making his first start at center after playing exclusively at right guard in 2009. The Gamecock offensive line allowed Carolina to produce 449 yards of  total offense &#8211; 224 on the ground and 225 through the air &#8211; averaging  6.9 yards per play.</em></p>

Howard anchored a defensive line that allowed just four yards rushing on  22 carries.  The longest rushing gain from scrimmage for Miami was 9  yards. The 2.5 sacks were for a total loss of 17 yards and was the first multi-sack performance of Howard’s career.</em></p>
